EDLD 5366 Digital Graphics - Ethiopic Bible

Ethiopic Bible
My first impression of the book as I look at the cover, which appears to be leather, is the repetition of borders from large to small as it pulls your eyes inward to the cross.   As you open the bible it looks as through the leather is neatly folded inward and covered with a red, white strip cloth with
some gold and what appears to be black, giving the book elegance and again repeating from each corner.
There is contrast between the title, and sub titles.  Titles are large and bold black and there is
red writing presumable to indicate a chapter title or verse.
Repetitions – All pictograms have borders as do the pages.  The cross symbol and the yellow
halo around the heads is all throughout this Bible.  Individuals are all barefoot and color the
same, reds, yellows, greens, and blues.  Columns are maintained and what appears to be tables and they have lines with writing distributed inside.
All men appear to wear beards which give rise to repetition
and contrast.
Alignments – titles for the pictograms are either right above the picture or right inside.  Most
are written in red.
Proximities – What appear to be title chapters in red are right above the black letters of the chapters.  Tables are framed and some wording is just outside a border as through to indicate
something special about that part of the picture.
The authors here used iconic pictures to tell a story.  Some with eyes going upward, others with eyes
covered, birds are used extensively as well as the cross and twigs.  There is someone carrying a body as though to lay someone to rest, hence the pictures tell the story.  It is fascinating.
